Glittery Snowman Ornament

This could be a tree ornament, a gift tag, a package tie-on,
or even a stocking stuffer ...

This snowman is very simple to make,
and I love the subtle glittery effect
(versus the glitter that falls off every time
you handle it and becomes a permanent
fixture in your home).

Here's what you'll need to make three:

A 1" ball knob, a 1/4" round plug, a primitive star
cutout, and a 1/4" dowel cut to 3" long.

Other supplies you'll need:
Tacky Glue, Powder Blush, Cotton Swabs,
Stylus (for dots), Wire (for hanging)
and a plastic snowflake (or button).
A hand drill with a 1/4" drill bit.

Acrylic Paints:
White, Red, Light Green, Orange, and Black

Plaid® Folk Art® Extreme Glitter™:
Red, Orange, and Peridot

This stuff is great! Here's the consistency:

After you've base coated your piece,
you can brush on a coat of Extreme Glitter™.
Additional coats = thicker, shinier glitter;
and it doesn't brush off!

Paint the ball knob white.
Allow it to dry; it may take two or three coats
for good coverage.
Attach the 1/4" button plug with
the Tacky Glue.  Set aside.

Drill a 1/4" hole in the center of each star.
Paint the front, back, and sides of
each star with light green.
I added this photo so you could see what a
difference the Extreme Glitter™ makes.
(Wowzers!!)

Paint the dowels red.

Paint the button plug orange.
Brush the Extreme Glitter™ onto each piece;
allow to dry, add more coats.

Use the stylus to dot eyes and mouths on
each painted ball knob.

If you dip the stylus into the paint puddle before
each touch, you will have same-sized dots.

If you don't dip into the paint puddle
each time, and just dot in a row,
your dots will get smaller.

When the paint is dry, swirl powder blush
onto the cheeks with the cotton swab.
Blow off excess powder.
Brush on a clear sealer.

Place the star onto the dowel.

Squeeze a dollop of glue into the ball knob
and place it on the dowel.

Thread a 8" length of wire through the snowflake
(or the button) and knot the ends.

Attach the hanger to the ball knob.

Once the glue has dried ...
Hang and enjoy!

Or tie it to a gift, or tuck it into a stocking ...

Quick and easy!
Here are some embellishment ideas:

An initial ...

... a bow ...

... bells that jingle ...

faux snow!!!

Peace!
