My grandmother.
I always looked forward to Christmas at
Grandma Martha's house.
I knew she bought us grandkids our gifts at the
dime store; and I always knew
I'd love whatever she chose for me.
It was always art supplies!
Colored pencils, markers,
giant pads of clean white paper with
a rough texture...
I can honestly say, I was never disappointed.

I also loved the big antique dresser
in the dining room.  If I remember
correctly, it had many coats of paint but
the final look was a green with black
showing through.
The bottom drawer always stuck,
but it was my favorite.
It was crammed full of coloring books -
some dating back years and years -
and a giant metal container of crayons.
I don't think she ever threw a crayon away.
I wonder whatever happened to the contents
in that drawer?

May you be at peace, Grandma.
You were loved very much.

I am very sorry for your loss. You will always have the memories and those are so precious. My mom shares traditions of her grandma with us to pass on through time.
