Strawberry Pretzel Salad

My kids' favorite dessert!

This is a layered dessert ... very tasty!  I'll try to remember
to take a picture of it sliced when it's set.

Again, I don't have a helper with me to take photos,
so these won't be step by step.  (sorry!)

Step One: The Crust

Place 1 1/2 sticks of butter in a 9x11 pan in a 350° oven.

Watch until the butter melts.  Stir together 2 Cups
crushed pretzels and 3 Tablespoons granulated sugar.
Pour over melted butter.
Use a fork to press crust evenly over bottom of pan.
Bake for 7 minutes.  Cool completely.

Step Two: The (Yum) Cream Cheese Layer

I am not afraid to tell you that this is the best part of the dessert.
In fact, I will even admit that I have made this dessert
and doubled the cream cheese layer.
Heavenly!

Moving on ...

Stir together one large package of cream cheese and
1 Cup powdered sugar.  Fold in one container
of thawed Cool Whip.

Spread over cooled crust.  Use a rubber spatula
to spread the cream cheese layer all the way to the edges
of the pan to create a "seal".
Cover and refrigerate for one hour.

Step Three: The Fruit

Dissolve two packages of strawberry jell-o
in 2 cups of boiling water.
Add one package frozen sliced strawberries.
Stir until strawberries begin to soften.

Gently pour onto cream cheese layer.  Chill until set.
(About two hours - sometimes longer).

Double Yumm-o!!!
